I grew up in church.  My dad was a preacher.  I knew a lot about the Bible.  I knew a lot of doctrine.  I knew how to act in church.  I knew a lot about God and Jesus Christ.  I knew a lot about the Holy Spirit.  I could talk the "talk" with the best of them.

It took a lot of years, a good wife and a gracious God to teach me I didn't know much of anything.  I knew about the Bible but I didn't KNOW the Bible.  I knew a lot about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit but I didn't KNOW THEM.

You see, I had learned everything I thought I knew second-hand, from the preaching of my dad and others.  Not that what they preached was wrong but, unlike the Bereans, I didn't check it out at the source.  So a lot of things got kind of twisted and skewed just slightly.  A lot of doctrine took the place of scripture.

But God was gracious.  He led me to His Word and gave me the ability to understand it.  He called me to teach and before you can teach you have to learn so He taught me.  Not with man's wisdom but with His Wisdom - His Spirit.  I don't know a lot yet - I'm still learning.  But I have the opportunity to share what He has taught me.  The studies and devotions I have included in this site, and others, are meant to bless God's people with what He taught me.

I'm not the only one He has taught.  If you have a Bible Study or devotion to share, I'd like to hear from you.  If it's scripturally valid, glorifies Jesus and edifies the body, I'll be glad to share it here - under your by-line.

Just a cautionary word!  If you are one of those who love to use the Christian web sites to sow confusion or false doctrine or have an axe of some kind to grind, don't bother.  I have neither the time nor the inclination to put up with you.

For the rest of you, may God bless you through what you find on this site.
